[Online & New York] Be Yourself & Be Heard: A Luminary Event

  • Luminary 1204 Broadway New York, NY, 10001 United States (map)

Sometimes, “communicating while female” seems impossible to get right. It can feel as though we are faced with a choice: to be authoritative and confident, or warm and open, and nothing in between. This perceived divide can make speaking up, leading conversations, or advocating for ourselves feel like a constant trade-off.

Kate Mason, PhD, rejects this limiting dichotomy. Her approach is grounded in helping women find the communication tools that amplify both their power and their likeability, while staying true to who they are. She believes that influence and authenticity are not opposing forces, but qualities that can work together to make your voice stronger and your presence more impactful.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Take part in a self-audit of your own communicative power at work, reflecting on your strengths and challenges, and exploring what it really means to be powerfully likeable.

  • Dive into an exploration of confidence, examining the common assumptions about it, and why you might benefit from letting go of the pressure to “have” it.

  • Unpack the concept of “Imposing Syndrome,” the multi-layered fear of making an imposition on others, and consider how it may be causing you to shrink your asks and, perhaps without realizing it, shrink yourself.
